It was a thrilling experience to visit the magnificent Eden Garden cricket Ground. Once we were done with the visit we went to
another important site in Kolkata which is known as the Belur Math. The Math is located on the banks of River Hooghly in the city and was built in the year 1988.
The Math is a very popular place among the followers of Ramakrishna Paramhansa and is an international headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission. This Mission was started by Swami Vivekananda who was a disciple of Paramhansa. People from across the globe visit this place and is revered by people from all the religious groups and communities.
When we entered the Math we headed straight towards SaradaMandir which is the place where Ramakrishna breathed his last. There is a memorial built in memory of the guru and all his objects of day
to day life are stored and preserved in his room which is also displayed to the public. Apart from the religious sites the Math also runs an Art school, college a dispensary.
The best thing about this Math which makes it unique and different from other Ashrams in India is that it is free from any kind of bigotry and is very rational and modern in its outlook. There is no distinction or walls of caste, creed, gender, religions visible inside the Math.
It is place where one can find inner peace and tranquility. The serene calmness and divine energy is sure to lift the souls and mend the broken hearts. It is one of those places which you can
visit in the city to escape from the maddening and crazy noises and crowd of the city. There is also a museum inde the Math which is made with the help of National council of Museums.
The place is easily accessible from all the major places and taxis, buses are also available. Once we were done with the visit to the Belur Math we headed for our next place of visit which was the ancestral house of Swami Vivekananda, the protégé of Ramakrishna Paramhansa.
