The short stay and the lunch we had our hotel was very refreshing for us. The food was amazing and it charged up to begin our adventures in the city. The first place which we visited in Kolkata
was a bird sanctuary which is known as Chintamoni Kar Bird Sanctuary. This was the place which was especially for my
daughter Sanvi as she loves birds.
The sanctuary is located at South Kolkata near the Ramakrishna Mission. The place is very famous for collecting a large variety of birds, butterflies and orchids not only from the country but from different parts of the world. The place used to be held by some private owners but government of West Bengal bought it and took the sanctuary under them.
There are many amazing species of birds which are housed in the sanctuary. Asian koels, Owls, Shikra, Munia, and Little Egret, wagtails, crows, Kingfishers, woodpeckers, dove and flycatchers are
there in the sanctuary. Their abodes give them enough space to fly and sleep peacefully in them. The sanctuary is taking good care of these birds and species. We took photographs of many of these
creatures to keep them as a memory.
The next section to visit inside is the section where spiders are housed. Some of the species of spiders which are available at the sanctuary includes garden Spider, imitation Spider, Wolf Spider, yellow Spider and many other species. It was so amazing to watch these species. Some of them looked very creepy and threatening while others looked like normal spiders found at homes.
The butterfly section inside the sanctuary is also worth a visit. They have many species if Jezebel, Coster, Leopard specie, Pansy and many more. The place has many beautiful and colourful
species of these insects. We captured each of these species in our camera.
We were done with the visit to the bird sanctuary. The joy on the face of my little one after the visit was worth it. After this visit we headed to our next place which was another famous attraction known as the Science City of Kolkata.
