Prithvi Theatre – Pride of Mumbai!

Stay in Mumbai was getting amazing and my aunt’s treat every day was impeccable. She too was happy and busy for u. Our next visit was to one of the key places in Mumbai, which is Prithvi Theater. Owned by the Kapoor family, it has contributed amazing talents to the Indian cinema for about five generations. They are indeed an established family in Bollywood. We were excited to visit and get to know more about the theater.

This time my aunt too was interested in traveling with us. She is also a great fan of the Kapoor family and the old Bollywood classics. My husband had called for a cab to drop us off at Juhu.  We got into the car and moved on. Distance between Colaba and Juhu is about 30km and it took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive at Prithvi Theater. The place looked serene on the Juhu Beach Road and we entered the main gate and began to move in. We saw a number of round tables and stools that were set outside. It had green surroundings and the place was cool. We saw a few people sitting round the table and we guesses among ourselves that they might be in conversation about eh theater plays or movies. My aunt was fascinated by seeing the theater in the name of the legendary actor, Prithviraj Kapoor.

It was once a traveling theater company. But with the constant effort of Shashi Kapoor, the son of Prithviraj Kapoor made a permanent set up for the theater company in Juhu. Today the country’s premium theater company involves in producing and playing various classical dramas, conduct mega events and more.

We moved into the theater, which is huge, and an elegant stage and I was sure it is every actor’s dream to perform on that stage. It gave a royal ambience and has the credit for producing a number of amazing talents in the film industry. One side we saw workshops set up by Sanjana Kapoor to mould the upcoming young talented actors. Hats off to the Kapoor family, which holds the strings of the Bollywood films. It was a different kind of place I have ever visited...I felt fortunate to have seen one of the most popular organizations.
